Poem

YOU TAUGHT ME LOVE

I thought I was a stone,
I felt nothing can move me,
Until I met you and
You taught me love.

Your company gives me comfort,
Your presence makes me complete,
I often experience an interior calmness
Whenever you are with me,
Those words of love coming from your mouth
Pierces my heart and unites it with yours.

I poured out my worries on you, and
You paid a quiet attention to me,
I expressed my past pain in words and
You consoled me,
I showed my present condition in its dark form, and
You shield light on it.
Then, you brighten my future by
Teaching me love.

You make energy run through my veils when I’m down,
If I’m ever told you are human, I’ll doubt
Your presence burnt all my human lusts,
And I feel the divine in the earthly vine.

A cure to the heart is the song you sing,
Though you sing to the Divine, yet my
Melancholy are transformed by your melodies,
What form of human can be compared with you?
Your love even transcends all human affections.
Oh! You taught me love.

In beauty you are not found wanting,
In virtues you are first class,
A radiating beam from your eyes inspires me, and
Provokes my mind to construct new ideas.
Oh! You are my muse.

It’s human to play certain games,
Games you played with me robs my memories,
Remembering how you fed me turns me on,
And recalling the warm kiss you gave me,
Makes my heart to leap like a ram.
The  smile, the dances, and the moment
We shared together filled my memory,
I can’t forget how you  taught me love.

How can I be alone without a lasting companion?
What kind of love can be compared with such flowing
From a woman of beauty and virtue,
All combined with an undeserving flavour of selflessness.
I can’t actually put it in words all you did to me,
But I know that YOU TAUGHT ME LOVE.
